I have a few requests regarding 3D model displays on mint pages which I think would also benefit other 3D model artists.
Models show as very “zoomed in” on Manifold and you can’t zoom out. This cuts off portions of the art depending on the model. This is apparent on all my models for instance here: (Manifold) /c/ac-kintsugi-blue and especially here: (Manifold) /c/ac-the-tao-is-like-a-well-01 . In the second case, it really makes the full artwork unviewable. Could the 3D/.glb viewer be set as default to more zoomed out so the full artwork can be seen?
There is a setting on 3D/.glb viewers called autorotate. It slowly rotates the model and is especially nice for live showings. An example of this feature can be found here (opensea) /item/ethereum/0x971ef72374f6c1ce65055012ec0437efd2dc0006/1 . I was wondering if autorotate could be turned on for manifold displays. It’s my belief that most 3D artists prefer this.
When you interact with a model on Manifold, it interrupts your experience by flashing to an overlay, which is shown on top of your mint page. I’m not sure how to exactly describe this, but if you interact with any model, you’ll see what I mean. It’s like a model on top of a model. To me, it’s kind of chaotic and takes away from the experience of interacting with/manipulating the model on the mint page. I was wondering if this overlay feature could be taken off of mint pages.
Anyways, just some personal requests but I think most 3D artists would prefer these changes. My goal is use my Manifold mint pages for in person shows.
Thanks in advance! Really appreciate the forum and the platform…
Fully agree, I also mint 3D GLBs and some models are just too zoomed in.
And I also know what you mean by the 3rd point, it only happens on edition pages for some reason. Whenever you rotate the model there and let go of mouse it will pop up an overlay with the same interactive model on top of it which makes no sense. But it didn’t used to do this before so it’s some new bug.

Great feedback here. Fixed this bug and that is live. Actively looking into the other two now!
Update: Auto rotate is releasing as we speak and zoom in was already available.
Correct a new bug, fixed! Huge apologies there. Working on the more subtle zoom/rotate now. We recently moved from Vue to React on those pages and the library behaves slightly differently now. Making it match rn!
Looks like we already have the zoom in. Usually model viewers do not let you zoom out past the default zoom setting in the model. I’ll see if I can allow it with custom behavior but this one might the one thing we can’t do. I can see on OS they have the same behavior, i cannot zoom out from the default position.
It’s awkward, but this might help to nail the issue down and find a solution.
Here’s 2 screenshots from my desktop. 2560x1440 resolution
One is with browser window zoomed to 100% the other is at 250% zoom.
The more you zoom in the more “space” is given to the viewer and the model suddenly fits in nicely. It seems to me that there is some sort of invisible horizontal distance that’s being taken into account when scaling stuff in the viewer, the more you lessen it the more the viewer gets kind of zoomed in.
Sorry to come in here again, but I noticed one more thing with viewers.
There is another problem when using manifold.gallery showcase links, but in this case the problem seems to be opposite.
Here is my same browser window. First image is 100% zoom. Second image is 50% zoom. So in this case the smaller the browser size iz the better it fits.
