I’ve had a long running issue with edition claim pages not allowing me to created numbered editions (ie numbered ‘art name #1/5’, ‘art name #2/5’ etc - see my other post here in the forum about that), so as a work around I decided to do a batch mint (1/1, same media with optional numbering) to make sure they would definitely be numbered correctly.
Unfortunately for some reason all 5 of the ERC-721 editions minted as “#1/5” instead of numbered 1/5, 2/5 etc. There was also no option anywhere to edit numbering during the creation process.

I’ve used batch mint before in this way, and had them all numbered correctly with no issues?
Hello! Oy, this is definitely on us for leading you down the wrong road. I’ll attend to this today. We’re actually actively improving these two “batch” apps behind the scenes because they’re just so confusing atm.
The core issue is that “Batch Token 1 Media” app is for when all tokens have the same media but also (and this is completely our fault for not explaining this) the same metadata. Hence why you ended up with 5 tokens with the same name. The other batch option is for when they have unique metadata or unique media.
The quickest solve would be to update your batch and rename them to just “Soft Hysteria” as from a technical perspective there is no way to individually give each token a name once minted with that specific batch minting tool. So sorry about that, what a huge bummer. I think im actually going to sunset this app to avoid having any more creators get stuck in this bind you are in, where the individual tokens can’t be updated – the whole batch has to match.
BTW going to spend the next hour or two thinking of other hacks to get you that numbering you originally intended for the pieces to have. Do not fret! I think i’ll be able to come up with something. Weird technical hurdles.
So in the meantime definitely give them the new name without the numbering at the end, they’ll still be bonafide 721s, non-fungible, and have their own unique token IDs + metadata files. They’ll just all have the same media and name.
Snooped around your profile and saw you unblocked yourself by simply minting 5 individual 1/1 tokens with the right name. Nice!
So my solution for cleaning up the the other tokens you’ve made before those 5 would be to just burn them. No harm no foul. The other option is to keep em around as placeholders for updating in the future into some other token!
If you can, post those burn/mint transactions and I’ll do my best to see if we can refund you for the wasted eth on the mints + burns of the unnecessary tokens.
Cheers tiff! Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
You batch mint tokens were indeed minted with the correct numbering on-chain. The issue came from the Arweave gateway, which wasn’t returning the right metadata. The team has since corrected this and all your tokens should have the correct numbering now.
So sorry for all the trouble this caused
Thanks Johnny. I think probably the most misleading thing with the batch mint option I used was that it said ‘you can change the titles of the individual tokens later’ during setup, which indeed it did allow me to do, so of course I could manually number them, or so it appeared. That made it even more confusing when they all popped up the same as the 1st. Anyway, irrelevant now if the batch app has had an overhaul, but thought I’d mention it anyway.
After two rounds of the same thing happening I was able to burn the incorrectly named tokens and as you spotted, ended up minting every edition separately as individual 1/1s numbered in order as a work around.
Thank you again for getting this fixed, really appreciate it and I’m sure I’m not the only one. I look forward to testing out the new batch app next time I mint to this collection.
