Is there any way to burn the NFT on the Manifold?

I accidentally created several of the same artifacts in my shape contract. Then for one item I tried to change the metadata, but realized it didn’t work. Is there any way to burn the nft since this duplicated nft is reflected in my collection on opensea?

gm! Can you provide a bit more info about what went wrong when trying to change the metadata?

Burn instructions here but curious to find out what happened when trying to update the metadata.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Here’s the core of the issue.

I created a contract on Shape. I minted several NFTs there. Then I ran into a problem with one of them — I couldn’t mint it properly. It didn’t appear in my wallet, in the studio, or in the block explorer. However, I believe I created multiple minting requests, and eventually, all those transactions got confirmed. As a result, I ended up with three identical tokens in the collection.

I wanted to burn them but couldn’t find a way to do it. So I decided to change their metadata to random images and rename them as “deleted” — but I quickly realized that this looked very unappealing in the collection view. I then tried sending the tokens to the zero address, but couldn’t make that work either.

Eventually, I created a second contract called “burn” — which, as I now understand, was one of my biggest mistakes. I sent one of the tokens to that contract’s address, and now I realize there’s no way to get it back.

So, my main problem is that these nameless, empty tokens still appear alongside my actual artworks in the collection page, which ruins the aesthetic. And as far as I can tell, I can’t do anything about it.

Right now, the only solution I see is to cancel all listings, create a new contract, and just make sure I don’t repeat these mistakes in the future.
