Use ENS as username

Hi! On many sites, e.g. Opensea, Mirror/Paragraph, Zora, etc., it recognizes the ENS connected to your wallet. Then, the username and url become https://example.com/yourens. Or, on Farcaster, it’s not automatic but you can set it to your ENS. Does Manifold support this? I tried to search for the answer.

I tried a workaround to add a period to the username but it wouldn’t allow the symbol.

Thanks.

Hello Ting!

Appreciate the message/feedback.

We have a username feature for each individual Profile in Manifold Studio. It can be set by going to Current Profile → Overview → Profile URL. That will control the username we use for the URL that leads to all of your Manifold pages, (ex: for username “jackbutcher” Jack Butcher | Manifold)

So typing the ENS into this field and then saving should achieve this!

Is the issue that your ENS contains symbols we don’t support? If so, can you share the name you’re trying to use?

Hi! Thanks for the reply.

The question (not necessarily an issue) is if Manifold supports ENS, e.g. example.eth. Then, the url and username would be https://manifold.xyz/example.eth.

It seems like the answer is no. Is that correct?

Also, on second thought, it is not a good idea to enable the period as a symbol when creating a username because that would let bad actors impersonate an ENS not owned by them.

Thanks.

Ohhhh I see! That does make sense as a cool new feature. The ENS of the linked wallet in your profile could totally serve as a default username that we support in the URL for leading to that profile.

Thank you for the idea and feedback!!!

We’ll keep you posted if/when that makes it to the live site.

Also good thinking on the impersonation.
